With the plain ground of the field in a wheaten gold and the border in ivery, the rest of the kilim celebrates the rose. the central rose is surrounded by a wreath, and in three rows are branches or small shrubs of roses, wit a few single blossoms scattered here and there on either side of the central row of a carefully tended flowerbed. A few white blossoms can be seen, and the varied shades of green shows the ingenuity of the weavers. all around the carpet is a long and continuous garland, further supposrt for the ardent rosarian, and for those who dream of the magic of rose petals, rose water, rose confections and such delights when the sun departs for winter every year.
